We will be CLOSED at both locations from 2/16 through 2/18 to finish moving, reorganizing and training. During this time our phone, email and website service will be interrupted. Please be patient and we will be back up and running in no time!
We will reopen with regular hours on Friday 2/19 at the new building on Route 14 in East Montpelier.
Week 21
February 8, 2010It’s almost time to move! As you can see, we have staff and volunteers working like crazy to get the final touches done. The floors are in everywhere, we’re painting almost every room, supplies are getting unpacked, and the staff is getting really excited. There’s a lot of work left to do so call if you have some spare time!

Week 20
February 2, 2010This week was pretty exciting! We scheduled final move preparations (see our Home Page!) and had a lot of progress in the building. Sinks went into all of the cat areas, counters were installed in the medical room, and the dog kennels went in! The end is in sight and we are getting pretty excited. We need volunteers to help with painting, cleaning and finishing touches. Call Amber at 476-3811 x27 if you have some spare time!

Week 19
January 25, 2010This week things are starting to really come together with the new epoxy flooring that was poured in the dog kennels and in the new cat wing. This amazing floor is anti-microbial and easy to clean, making it prefect for the new shelter. The carpenters also completed the kitchen in the meeting room and are working on cabinets in the medical room.

Week 18
January 19, 2010Let there be light! This week things really started to brighten up around the new shelter. Robyn and the volunteers continued the grand task of painting, and the electrician began installing the light fixtures.
Also happening this week… the new epoxy floors will be poured in the kennels and the cat wing. We will have pictures of the new floor next week. We’re getting close! Week 17
January 12, 2010This week I thought we’d show some of the before and now pictures. The pictures at this point can’t begin to show all the little things behind the scenes that are going on. Volunteers have been helping out to get the meeting room primed and finishing up the trim in the cat wing. The restaurant size stainless steel sinks for the cat cleaning room and the animal kitchen also arrived this week.

Week 16
January 5, 2010After the holiday break, things are really moving forward. Volunteers lead by staff member Robyn have been hard at work painting the cat wing. The bright colors make the rooms cheerful and will help the cats really stand out. This week the new kennels will arrive and the crew is working on more electric, ventilation, sheet rock and painting. Preparations have began over at our current location for the move. We are cleaning and organizing supplies, junk drawers, closets and sheds. After over 30 years here on Mekklesen Hill, we have a lot of work to do!
